It often happens that, emerging from some ball, party, or what have you, in the wee hours of the morning, one desires some hot food. In the pubs that are open the latest the only thing your going to get are usually potato chips or pretzel sticks. Things are different at the recently opened Nowy Kuzyn on the Mały Rynek, which is open 'til 4 AM and later, where you can order a la carte items until closing time. The Galicyjska restaurant at the main train station is open 24 hours a day and, despite the fact that people tend to associate it with the days of the Polish Peoples' Republic, it is a clean place, not overrun by consumers of denatured alcohol, which serves entirely edible food. If one wants to feel like the Parisians of yesteryear, who would go down to the market at the break of day to partake of some onion soup with the vendors, we'd recommend the bars at the pavillion on the Plac Nowy (Endzior, for instance) in the Kazimierz district. These quaint little places open at about 5 AM, you eat at tables outside, and they serve things like fantastic smoked ribs with cabbage, monster pork chops, and thick pea soup.
